Listen to a 5 minute summary of the plot and music of Esther.
The StoryYoung, orphaned, and a refugee in a foreign land, things seemed like they couldn't get much worse for Hadassah. Until her guardian Mordecai brings home the news that the King of Persia–Xerxes–has decided to divoce his queen and will have his pick of the ladies of the land for his new queen. On the surface, it's American Idol meets The Bachelor. But for Hadassah, who's changed her name to Esther, things take a darker turn.
A plotting, scheming prince wants to destroy not only her beloved guardian, but wants to wipe out her entire people group, in a BC-era genocide attempt that rivals that of the power-hungry and ruthless Hitler. In the events that follow, the story moves at such a breathless pace and circumstances align in such a way that Ether sees her purpose and concludes she was placed in her unique spot for "such a time as this." |
